This position is located at the USAG-HI, Directorate of Public Works, Conservation Branch, Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii.
This position is located on Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii which is nestled at the foot of the Waianae mountain range on the island of Oahu. Wheeler AAF is located a few miles from the towns of Wahiawa and Mililani and is 17 miles from Honolulu. Oahu is the third largest island in the Hawaiian chain. It is home to about three-fourths of the state's population. Honolulu is the state capitol and the 11th largest U.S. metropolitan city. Waikiki, the most world-renowned site in Oahu, is the top visitor destination of the state. This is a career program (CP) 18 position.
You will design, initiate, administer, and participate in cultural resource surveys and excavations. Provide archeological expertise in locating, inventorying, evaluating, and protecting historic properties. Ensure that programs and projects are in compliance with federal laws and regulations and Army regulations and directives. Monitor contract archaeological surveys. Maintains GIS database and hardcopy site files. Monitor training exercises to determine any impact on historic properties. Review specifications and plans for construction, tactical excavation, earth moving projects, maintenance, and repairs to insure conformance with historical preservation laws. Prepare and/or review documentation on properties for nomination to the National Register of Historical Places. Maintain records of compliance efforts including general information and specific information for each project. Aid in developing and implementing the Integrated Cultural Resource Management Plan.

Basic Requirement:
A. A Degree that included 3 semester hours each in the following course areas: 1) History of archeology. 2) Archeology of a major geographical area such as North America or Africa. 3) Regional archeology, archeological cultures, or sites in a specific part or portion of a major geographical area to acquire or develop a foundation for regional specialization for professional development. 4) Theory and methods of archeology. Methods include, but are not limited to, typology, classification, sampling, cultural evolution, diffusion, dating, and analytical techniques. 5) Archeological field school, to provide a basic understanding of theoretical and practical approaches to research design implementation, field preservation techniques, and report preparation by participation in actual field work. --AND-- Six semester hours of related course work in: geography, geology, or cultural geography; history, historiography, or historical archeology; environmental studies; scientific writing (nonfiction English composition); and/or surveying. --AND-- Archeological field school. OR
B. Related Curriculum: Degree in anthropology (with emphasis on ethnology, physical anthropology, or scientific linguistics), history, American studies, or a related discipline may be accepted as satisfying in full the educational requirements, provided the curriculum supplied academic course work sufficiently similar to the requirements in A (including archeological field school). OR
C. Combination of Education and
Experience: College-level education or training that provided knowledge equivalent to that described in A and B above, plus appropriate technical experience or additional education. OR
D.
Experience: Four years of archeological work experience that demonstrated a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional archeology. The work experience must have included archeology field experience, which may include that gained in an archeological field school. Field experience should have included a combination of professional experience in archeological survey, excavation, laboratory analysis, and preparation of written materials. Applicants with such field experience should, after additional experience under the direction of a higher grade archeologist, be able to demonstrate the ability to be crew chief, directing the work of others at a single location as a part of a larger archeological project. Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Specialized Experience Required : To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: conducting background studies and document reviews pertaining to cultural resources projects; participating in archaeological surveys and site evaluation work; AND preparing technical reports of data findings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-9).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
Knowledge of archeological fieldwork.
Knowledge of the National Historic Preservation Act.
Knowledge of archeological rules, regulations, directives and procedures.

3 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR-- Combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience described above may be used to meet total qualification requirements at the GS-11 level.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
