About the Position: This position is located at the, Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii. Hawaii is a beautiful state, but may be considered to have a high cost of living. Hawaii has many outdoor activities all year round including surfing, paddling, diving, fishing and hiking. Responsibilities
Supervising all air traffic control operations on an assigned shift.
Set priorities and Control operations include local control, ground control/clearance delivery, flight data, and flight following.
Operate radar system.
Assist aircraft in distress or an emergency situation.
Sequence, space, and issue clearance and control instructions to provide adequate separation to all Visual Flight Rules and Instrument Flight Rules aircraft within the tower's area of responsibility.
Relay flight data to local controller and ground control/clearance delivery.
Issue taxi instructions to departing and arriving aircraft.
Operate airport lighting controls
Initiate emergency procedures as necessary.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Incumbent will be required to work a non-standard tour of duty, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays based upon mission needs.
Must certify in both the Tower and the Ground Control Approach (GCA) within the time limits specified in AR 95-2.
TDY (Temporary Duty) away from primary duty station may be required for purpose of receiving/providing training instructions and/or other mission essential purposes and travel.
Designated Key Position: This position has been identified as being a Key Position under the provisions of AR 690-11, Mobilization Planning and Management.
Civilians must be exempted from recall to active duty because of Reserve or retired military obligations
This position may require you to work some overtime.
This positon requires other than normal duty hour and shirt work, whick in cludes night and weekends, Rotating shift are Monday thru Friday, 1st shift 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 2nd shift 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and 3rd shift 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
This position is a Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug testing.
This position requires a pre-employment physical and is subject to periodic medical examinations following appointment.
Must be willing obtain and maintain U.S. Army Class IV medical certificate which includes an annual physical exam and may include participation in an approved physical fitness program.

I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 grade level in the federal service which includes advising pilots of traffic patterns, weather/airfield conditions, and /or giving clearance for landing/take off in a military or civilian air traffic control facility.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
